Go All Out on a Ride Through Columbus, GA on the Dragonfly Trail

One of our top recommendations for visitors is to explore Columbus, Georgia, on two wheels. Sound like something you and your travel team would enjoy? The Dragonfly Trail is your ticket for adventure!

Stretching through the heart of the city, this paved trail winds past river views, art installations, and vibrant neighborhoods, offering a one-of-a-kind ride you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

This trail is more than just a place to pedal; it’s a community-building connector that keeps all who explore it coming back for more. Thanks to community partners like Ride On Bikes, Bicycle Columbus, Midtown Columbus, and The Columbus Museum, it’s also home to unique group rides that bring locals and visitors together in unforgettable ways.

Just Looking for a Leisurely Ride?

You don’t have to be a seasoned cyclist to enjoy the Dragonfly Trail! Even a short ride offers plenty to see and do. Start with a gentle loop by the Chattahoochee RiverWalk, where you can catch beautiful water views and even spot kayakers navigating the rapids. Or take a relaxed spin from Whitewater Express down to Rotary Park, stopping along the way for coffee, snacks, or a photo by one of the trail’s colorful murals. With so many easy entry points, the Dragonfly Trail makes it simple to hop on for a quick ride—perfect for families, beginners, or anyone wanting a little fresh air and sunshine.

Specialty Rides that Celebrate Community

If you’re into themed rides and connecting more with locals, Columbus’ cycling scene keeps things fresh with rides that highlight the city’s culture and creativity all year long. This Fall, Midtown Columbus teamed up with The Columbus Museum and Bicycle Columbus to host an Art Ride. This moving gallery tour paired pedaling with stops at murals, installations, and local art spaces.

Seasonal rides are common in Columbus. The annual family-oriented Juneteenth Jubilee Bike Ride explores historical Black churches and sites, often starting from Woodruff Park.

Not visiting on a holiday weekend? No problem! Riders can explore the historic Columbus Black Heritage Trail, a National Recreation Trail, by bike at any time! This trail (which incorporates parts of The Dragonfly Trail) connects 30 points of interest related to African American history in the area. The ride is a powerful journey through Columbus, Georgia’s history while honoring the stories and landmarks that have shaped our community into the place it is today.
